Goodman mini-split installation in West Palm Beach typically runs $3500 to $7500 installed, depending on the system size, the number of indoor units, and how much electrical work is involved. We keep most common Goodman-compatible components on our trucks, so many installations can start the same day we give you the written price. Most owners discover they need a new mini-split after a compressor quits, a refrigerant leak won’t hold, or the outdoor unit has been running so hard through Palm Beach County summers that repair costs no longer make sense against replacement.
What you’ll notice first is usually the system running but not cooling, or the outdoor unit making a sound like a freight train at three in the morning. Sometimes it’s quieter: water staining on the wall below the indoor unit, or a drain line that keeps backing up no matter how many times you clear it. We walk you through what’s failing, what it costs to fix versus replace, and what makes sense for a house in this heat.
Which Goodman Models This Applies To
This covers most Goodman and Amana mini-splits, because Goodman built both lines on shared platforms. The most common series we work on in West Palm Beach are the ComfortBridge DZ-series and the older GPH/GSX-derived multi-zone systems, with indoor units in 9K, 12K, 18K, and 24K BTU sizes. Goodman’s mini-splits use a mix of R-410A and, in newer models like the DZ17VSA, factory-charged R-32, so the exact outdoor unit plate matters before any install begins.
One compatibility gotcha we see often: Goodman indoor and outdoor units from different generations are not always interchangeable, even when the BTU rating matches. The communication protocol changed around 2018 on multi-zone systems, and an older wall unit will not talk to a newer heat-pump condenser unless it’s specifically listed as backward-compatible on the nameplate. If you have the original paperwork or can read the model numbers off both indoor and outdoor units, that saves us real time. OEM Goodman parts are what we quote first, but for several wear items like flare fittings, line sets, and condensate pumps, we offer a quality aftermarket equivalent that meets the same spec at a lower cost, and we’ll tell you which one we’re quoting before we order anything.

Signs Your Goodman Mini-Split Installation Is Failing
- Indoor blower runs but no cooling. This usually points to a lost refrigerant charge, a seized compressor, or a failed reversing valve. If the outdoor unit is humming but the fan isn’t spinning, the compressor may be locked up and pulling locked-rotor amps. In West Palm Beach, where systems run nearly year-round, compressor failure before year twelve is common on units sized at or near their limit.
- Water dripping or staining below the indoor wall unit. The condensate drain line is clogged, or the drain pan has cracked. On Goodman wall units, the pan is a known wear point in humid coastal air because the plastic gets brittle with age and constant moisture cycling.
- Outdoor unit short-cycles, starts then clicks off. The filter-drier or expansion valve may be restricted, or the board is reading a false high-pressure condition. Short-cycling a heat pump in our climate is a fast way to finish off a compressor.
- Ice forming on the indoor coil or the outdoor suction line. Low refrigerant or restricted airflow from a clogged blower wheel. Letting it run frozen warps the coil and sends water where it shouldn’t go.
- Electrical smell or a tripped breaker that won’t reset after one attempt. A burned compressor windings, a failed capacitor, or a shorted contactor. This is the point where we say stop, shut the breaker off, and call us. Do not keep resetting it.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
A full Goodman mini-split installation in West Palm Beach generally lands between $3500 and $7500, and the range comes from four things: system capacity, the number of indoor air handlers, the electrical service at the disconnect, and whether you need new line sets through an attic or a chase. A simple single-zone 12K BTU install in a converted garage will be at the lower end. A four-zone system with ceiling cassettes is at the higher end.
Every quote is a written price before work starts: the equipment, the line set, the electrical whip, the condensate management, the pad or wall brackets, and all labor. There is no “while we’re in there” surprise line at the end. The installation carries a 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not right, we make it right. If our work fails within a year, a return visit is free. No argument, no invoice. That’s the whole point.
DIY or Call Us?
Mini-split installation is not a handyman job. The line set carries refrigerant at pressure, the unit requires a dedicated electrical circuit, and a bad flare connection is a refrigerant leak waiting to happen, and in Florida, refrigerant leaks are regulated. We recommend homeowners do exactly three things: keep the filters clean, keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves and palm fronds, and check the condensate drain line with a cup of vinegar once a season. Everything else, you should let a licensed technician handle. A botched flare or an improper vacuum on the line set is the most common reason a brand-new Goodman mini-split fails within its first year.
If you’re reading this because your Goodman system is already failing and you want a straight, time-stamped diagnosis and a written installation price, call (728) 220-0996. We’ll tell you what’s wrong, what it costs, and whether a repair is honestly still worth your money.
FAQs
A properly installed Goodman mini-split in our coastal climate averages 12 to 15 years, with compressors often failing before the air handler because salt air and constant summer runtime are harder on the outdoor unit. Annual maintenance moves you toward the top of that range.
Usually, yes, if the compressor is still sound. Leaking flares, failed capacitors, bad boards, and clogged drains are all repairable at a fraction of replacement cost. Once the compressor itself fails, replacement is usually the better math, because the repair cost approaches 60 to 70 percent of a new system and you still have an older coil and board. Call (728) 220-0996 and we’ll give you the honest split.
Most single-zone installs take one full day from start to a cooling space. Multi-zone systems are often two days. We tell you the expected timeline in writing before we start.
We stock common installation components on our trucks: line sets, flares, pads, disconnect boxes, whips, drain kits, and mounting brackets. Uncommon Goodman-specific control boards or indoor units are ordered and typically arrive within a few days in West Palm Beach.
